Three Day Weekend

my heart….. such a beautiful moment
We recently had a 3 day weekend and the weather forecast was rain rain and more rain. Now I LOVE the rain but not when you have to entertain two young children. Spain is limited with indoor activity compared to places like the UK and you add Covid into the mix and that equals to 0 things to do. With that being said we had a jam-packed family weekend and no crappy weather was going to get in our way.
FRIDAY
It started off well, Nathan’s been sleeping soooo much better and has begun to sleep through most nights until 6ish (not 430/5am, total game-changer). It had been raining a lot but Ben and I decided to throw the kids in the car first thing nice and early on Friday morning and get to Pinosol Park.

Pinosol Park is the best park there is in Javea. There are plans for two more parks to be built but I created a petition in December regarding the parks because all the others are broken, dangerous and dirty (Petition link click here - Please sign 😀). The petition is still in progress as no action has been taken yet to sort the ones that are already installed… I mean a park with graffiti and no swings isn’t much fun now, is it?

I love seeing Nathan playing now, being more independent, climbing, going down the slides on his own. It makes life easier.
Hailey is so confident and independent as soon as she is at the park she mingles with other kids straight away, you just let her get on with it. One time her job was to carry the cookies for these other girls, they were much older as well…… I couldn’t stop laughing.
The park was a little wet so of course, it was my duty to go down the slide to dry it… with my arse. (This was an excuse to just go down the slide if you didn’t catch on). After some time at the park we came home and chilled for a while and later on in the afternoon we went to the Arenal, now the plan was to get a drink and watch the kids play but it was so cold and windy we lost interest in the having a drink part, instead, we decided to stroll up and down the promenade and then grab an ice cream. No Ice cream for me though as I am on a sugar challenge so I had to just watch, oh but Ben did have a beer.
The day ended perfectly as Ben’s mum made us a homemade curry take out and the kids dinner. We waited in the car while Ben collected it, unfortunately, due to covid and his parents being super safe until they get the vaccine, we haven’t seen them since January 😔

SATURDAY

It started off well. I know right? The kids were nice and chilled and we played until Ben woke up. We then decided to take a drive over to the shopping Centre to kill some time and grab a couple of bits. From there we headed over to the Jalon as a friend of mine said she had the BEST chips ever there. It was super cold and windy but we found it, a little place called Tia Sara and it's a Belgium snack bar (YUMMMMMY). We had the most amazing chips with lots of sauces including satay and some bitterballs. It's a small place and only we were inside, the owners were lovely and we ate in. The kids were SO good, it's super rewarding when things go smoothly!
After destroying a sack of potatoes we headed home stopping by our old school (which has moved to another place), It's where Ben and I met. Was pretty weird seeing it actually.

SUNDAY
We had one more day to get through but I woke up in a shit mood, this isn’t good for anyone. To bump my mood I did a spin class (I have a gym in my house now). We then decided to take the kids on a special day out to Oceanographic in Valencia. It's about an hour and 15 minutes drive on the motorway. We arrived at 1.30pm and stayed till around 5pm, this was plenty of time and we didn't rush around at all.

We brought Hailey when she was much younger but now she's older it was way better and she loved it! Nathan preferred this more than the zoo we took him to back in February. Oceanographic is the largest aquarium in Europe and it is just magical, even for us adults, so if you are in the area then you gotta go!!
When we reached the Beluga whales, there was a moment, a really special moment that Ben nearly caught on camera. As he pans off to the right following the whales, Hailey wraps her arms around me, knocking me over slightly and said thank you….. my heart….. such a beautiful moment and it was the icing on the cake for me.
You know when you get those days or weekends where it was perfect? No screaming, no fighting, no stress.... just perfect? Well, that was this weekend. Next weekend will probably be the polar opposite!
